The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) is designed to assess the state of the skills of individuals and nations in this new information world. Clearly, one of those skills is literacy. The results of the literacy portion of the Survey of Adult Skills, the latest assessment, points to the need to develop strategies to address the troubling news regarding the state of adult literacy in the U.S.  

Amy Trawick’s Using the PIAAC Literacy Framework to Guide Instruction, available in the LINCS Resource Collection, describes how adult literacy practitioners might support adult learners by incorporating relevant tools from PIAAC’s literacy framework and will serve as the reference for discussions.
